Wool ponchos and capes are essentially blankets with holes for arms (and some don’t even have the holes) that, for some reason, still manage to look effortless and super glam. Have you seen Olivia Palermo rocking a Burberry monogrammed cape? She’s nothing short of stunning in it! Sigh…

Oversized capes are like lazy fashion — an easy way to give a regular outfit a chic twist and up the fabulous. They look best with skinny jeans, leggings or even leather pants. Paired with high heel booties or over-the-knee boots, they give you legs for days and an eminently slimmer figure. Throw on a hat for a Bohemian look or accompany one with sexy oversized sunglasses to look like Posh.

I wore my Brixton X UO Lucille Blanket Cape with H&M vegan leather pants (similar from 7 For All Mankind here), an Anthropologie hat (similar here and here), Tory Burch booties and Madewell bracelet (I love this one as well), and a Moschino bag (here’s a better version).
